Telluriiiiide!!

Well hello there.  This is Matt.  I figure I would create a post about my trip to Telluride, CO.  I went with 2 of my good Army friends.  We will be parting ways here in the next couple months so we wanted this to be "last CO hurrah" type trip.  Telluride is right in the middle of a box canyon and surrounded by snow-capped 13 and 14ers.  It's also know for excellent hike-to terrain.  The scenery is truly unmatched.

Now my friend Andrew and I are a little crazy when it comes to skiing, mountain biking, etc.  I've been skiing regularly for about 4 years and I would say I'm pretty good.,but we try some runs that about halfway down, we look at each other and and say "This was a mistake".  That being said, the challenge is what makes skiing fun!  And it's the only way to get better!

We had an absolute blast and got 2 whole days of skiing some of the coolest runs!  We stayed at the Hotel Madeline, a super classy joint.  We were definitely like gypsies in the palace.  It was a gorgeous hotel that was right in the village.  Below are some pictures from the trip.  If anyone is interested in getting more information about the trip let me know and I'll shoot you some more details.

Happiness

Happiness is a gorgeous morning at the dog park, an afternoon basking in the sun, an evening that smells like spring, cooking dinner together with my husband, a glass of wine and good music while enjoying said dinner, the sun going down behind the mountains, walking to the ice cream shop with the dog under a gorgeous night sky, and settling in on the couch for a movie.  Yes, life is good. :)

Spring is in the Air!

The weather this past week has been simply amazing.  We've gotten an early taste of spring and it seems that everyone is loving it.  Of course, this is Colorado where spring doesn't really start until May so I'm sure colder weather and snow still awaits us but we are taking advantage while we can!  Matt's been taking Cooper on trail runs a little more frequently--it's pretty impressive how much more in shape he is from last summer when we first moved out here.  He's also started playing fetch which is a new development for him.  I used to try to get him to play fetch with tennis balls back in St. Louis and he wasn't the slightest bit interested.  I think seeing all the dogs at the dog park chasing balls convinced him it was legit.  Matt brings an old lacrosse stick with us and it's a great way to really throw a ball out there.  We seemed to have a created a monster though, as Coop only focuses on Matt throwing the ball and chasing it and seems to be much less interested in socializing with the dogs.

This past Thursday we headed up to Boulder for the evening to attend a reception for the new MBA students.  I think Matt got a lot of really helpful information from some current students and it was great for me to learn a little bit more about what he'll be doing these next two years.  I personally know nothing about the business world, but it sounds like it's going to be a great experience for Matt and that he'll get a lot out of the program.  It got us both that much more excited for what's to come!

Friday was absolutely gorgeous and we took Cooper to the dog park in the morning followed with a trip to Wag n' Wash for a much needed bath.  The afternoon was spent on the front porch enjoying some margaritas.  It was awesome to be wearing shorts and a t-shirt in mid-March in Colorado.  From what I hear, it's been pretty warm in St. Louis too.  Of course we watched the Mizzou-Norfolk St. game, what a heartbreaker!!  We're over it now but oy, was that a tough one to watch!!

St. Patrick's Day was celebrated at Jack Quinn's downtown.  It's basically the only Irish bar in the city so it was a pretty popular locale.  The Springs seems to really love St. Patty's and has a big parade which last almost two and a half hours this year.  A good number of our friends have either moved on from here or were on leave before deploying so they're out of town which meant it was a smaller group of us, but we still had a blast.  :)

Cooper in his favorite spot.

Porch time.

Happy dog!

Tasty margaritas.

Silly Matt.

Sporting our green for St. Patty's!

Another gorgeous day.

The boys.

Boulder, Here We Come!!

I am so incredibly proud and excited to let everyone know that Matt was accepted into the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado!!  He will start school this August and graduate in May 2014.  He worked very hard to get into the MBA program and it has all paid off.  We are planning to move up to Boulder in July as our lease here in the Springs is through June.  It's such a relief to know where we will be living and what we will be doing for the next couple years.  So, it's Colorado living for at least two more years...and Boulder is a great place to come visit!! ;)

March Already?

I can't believe that we're already four days into March!  I swear time is just flying by at warp speed.  We really haven't been up to much these last couple weeks.  Matt has been enjoying his time off and I've just been working.  I have to admit, I do love having him home more and getting to spend more time together.  Plus, he's been cooking some awesome dinners lately! :)  Since he's not working during the week anymore, we've started working out together at the gym up on Post.  It's definitely been kicking my butt and I am SO sore but it's nice having my own personal trainer. :)  So, that's pretty much all that's been going on in the Joseph household lately.

We should know within the next two weeks or so about Matt's grad school decision and I will be sure to let everyone know as soon as we do.  Matt is taking a ski trip with a couple Army buddies next weekend to Telluride which is supposed to have some awesome skiing.  I know he'll have a blast and I'm sure he'll write his own post all about it.  Hope everyone is doing well!!
